1. Goodman Gallery: (JE 24)

This gallery, founded in 1966, is at the forefront of the local contemporary art scene. It represents a variety of artists, both local and international, and has a regular exhibition program of primarily solo and two-person shows. A visit to the gallery offers a taste of African cultural consciousness.

2. Kim Sacks Gallery: (JE 25)

Although African curios can be found at the markets, Kim Sacks Gallery has carefully selected top-quality art pieces, many from acclaimed African artists. The shop itself is a treasure-trove of beautiful handmade cloth, prints, polished wood and metal statues, ceramics and antique furniture. Kim is on hand to explain the origin of items and can organize the international shipping.

3. Johannesburg Diamond Rings (JE 26)

Visit a diamond factory in the city where you will get the history of diamonds, and how they where discovered. After a briefing you will visit the cutting, and polishing sites within the factory. Finally we visit the warehouse where you can purchase these precious stones at a factory price.

4. African Romance – Diamond Rings (JE 27)

This factory is situated in Sandton and has recently launched its first of fine diamond and luxury jewellery; the embrace Collection. Embrace features a range of diamond rings that reflect the ultimate expression of love just as lovers entwine, so to do these designs with a large central diamond, embraced by smaller ones. Say “I love you” with a diamond from African Romance. This fabulous collection of diamond rings can be viewed at Sandton showroom and polishing facilities.

5. University of Johannesburg Art Gallery: (JE 28)

The UJ art centre offers you great shows and stunning exhibitions in a secure environment. The 436 seat theatre is a modern, high-tech building. Since 2005, they offer their patrons world-class shows, like David Kramer and Taliep Petersen’s Ghoema, Groet die Grotman en Nataniel in concert.

Year after year, the UJ arts Centre has been the venue of choice for the prestigious FNB Dance Umbrella’s Gala Event. Ian Von Memerty has been back for several seasons. It also has various Programmes running for students and the general public. The most acclaimed of these are the Sundowner concerts, featuring some of the best South African classical musicians. International musicians also perform frequently.

6. Big 5 Canvas Art prints (JE 29)

Big 5 canvas art prints are the ideal souvenir to take home as a memento of Africa. These can be purchased as individual or as a series of 5 prints.
